The Anti Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a 42-year-old Nigerian National and recovered synthetic drugs including 11.6 kgs of MDMA crystals,1.04 Kgs of Ecstasy pills and 2.2 kgs of raw chemicals used for preparation of the drugs total worth of Rs.23.7 Crore from him.
The accused according to the police identified as Ejike Nzegwu,is a habitual offender involved in similar cases earlier.
After coming out of the bail he continue to peddle sourcing the drugs from his contacts in Delhi,which is being probed.
Based on a tip off,a team of CCB officials led by ACP,HK Mahananda and team raided the house in Bagalur police station limits where he had rented a place and arrested him red handed .
The accused according to the police had come to the city on business visa in 2017 through Sri lanka and overstayed .
He was arrested by Bagaluru police in 2019 in a drug case and jailed.He came out on bail and later arrested by Konanakunte police in 2020 for a similar case .
The accused confessed that he was sourced the drugs to sell it to local peddlers for the upcoming new year eve.
Terming the recovery is as one of the biggest in the recent past,City police commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh said that the city police as part of the anti drug operations have seized 113 crore worth of drugs in the year so far.
Mr.Singh said that legal action would be initiated against the house owner for violating the rules and failed to inform the local police while renting out the premises to the accused .
Mr.Singh also ordered inquiry against the jurisdictional police and the CCB wing for failing to keep a tab on the activities of the accused who are operating from the rented house and sourcing drugs from Delhi and selling it to the local peddlers.
