Bellandur Police Station Inspector has been suspended on the charges of deriliction duty and lapses on his part following a allegations that staff in the station had demanded a bribe from a grieving man to handover the copies of UDR and post-mortem report of his daughter who died of brain haemorrhage at private hospital in November this year .
City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh ordered the suspension after a inquiry conducted by an Assistant Commissioner of Police,submitted to him.
Shivakumar,a former BPCL official,had accused the inspector and other staff of demanding bribe for an official favour right from conducting post-mortem, ambulance service,and issuance of the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) certificate.
He alleged that even when his daughter was in critical condition,officials insisted on payments and failed to respond with basic courtesy.
A few days earlier,the victim’s social media post had gone viral,prompting swift departmental action.
Whitefield DCP,K.Parashuram had already suspended Bellandur Police Sub-Inspector Santosh and Constable Goraknath,with a detailed inquiry still in progress.
Commissioner,Singh had directed DCP Parashuram to probe the allegations further,after which Whitefield Sub-Division, ACP Balakrishna submitted a report three days ago confirming lapses on the inspector’s part.
Meanwhile Assistant Commissioner of Police, Maratahalli sub division and her staff conducted probe on the custodial torture of a 34-year-old domestic help by Varthur station staff .
The victim and her husband was called to the station and the accused staff including four policemen and three women constables were paraded before the victim for Identification.
The police also recorded a detailed statement of the victim and videograped the event after he narrated the ordeal before the officials .
The victim was later sent to her house where she is recovering .
