A police constable and his colleague police constables were assaulted by two drunk men when they went west wave bar as part of surprise checks on special drive on Friday night.
The duo who are presently on the run was booked under 132 (assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant to prevent them from performing their duties) 121 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant to prevent them from performing their duty) and 352 (Intentional Insult with Intent to Provoke Breach of Peace) under BNS for further investigation.
Based on the DCP West Division, Girish S,directions,PSI, Ravish M along with his staff Siddappa Gowda and others went to conduct suprise inspection at the bar and restaurant to check illegal activities and any violations.
The accused found drinking when the police team approached them started asking questions enraged duo snatched the mobile phone of Siddappa Gowda and punched on his face .
They started assaulting Gowda when Ravish intervened. The duo overpowered Ravish assaulted him too and tore his uniform.
The other staff rescued the police under attack following which the duo escaped.
Based on the complaint,the Chandra layout police have registered an FIR and efforts are on to track them.
Deputy commissioner of police,west,Girish.S,said as part of Special drive on Rowdies,a total of 222 residence of Rowdies were checked along with 148 bars were checked on Friday night.
One Rowdy by name Prashanth was found in a bar in Basaveshwarnagar on whom a warrant was pending.
A case of obstruction to duty was taken up against two people in chandra layout police station while checking a bar and restaurant.
One COTPA case and one excise case has been booked in Basaveshwarnagar police limits .
Meanwhile Southeast Division police also carried out a special drive and checked 119 rowdy sheeters and subject them under NDPS test to ascertain whether they are under the influence of narcotics .
