Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar has issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against officers and staff who display negligence in property tax collection within the limits of Bengaluru North City Corporation.
Addressing a meeting held today at the Yelahanka Mini Vidhana Soudha with officials and staff from the revenue department,the Commissioner stated that if officers and staff fail to improve their performance within a week,they will be served notices seeking explanation and disciplinary action will be taken against them.
*Target of ₹1,242 Crore in Property Tax Collection:
*There are a total of 4,87,292 properties under the tax net in the Bengaluru North City Corporation limits,with a target of ₹1,242 crore in property tax collection.So far,₹542.32 crore has been collected.
The remaining ₹700 crore must be collected,and the performance of revenue collectors,revenue inspectors, assistant revenue officers,and revenue officers will be reviewed individually,the Commissioner noted.
He further instructed that outstanding taxes from top defaulters be collected immediately.Additionally,all untaxed properties must be fully identified and brought under the tax net.
Officers were advised to discharge their duties with a sense of public responsibility,and to sincerely and efficiently work towards achieving the targets set by the Special Commissioner of the Revenue Department of the Greater Bangalore Authority.
Special instructions were also given to Assistant Revenue Officers to resolve grievances related to E-Khata efficiently.
*Officers/Staff Must Perform Their Duties Honestly to Avoid Disciplinary Action: R.Latha:
*Additional Commissioner of the Development Department,R.Latha,emphasized that in order to achieve the property tax collection target within the North City Corporation limits,all officers and staff must correct their performance within a week as per the Commissioner’s instructions.
She stressed that they must work diligently to meet the target and avoid facing disciplinary measures.
The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner Mohammad Naem Momin,Deputy Commissioner Mangala Gowri,revenue officers,assistant revenue officers,revenue inspectors,revenue collectors,and other concerned officials.
*Inspection of Street Dog Sterilization Center and Medi Agrahara Electric Crematorium:
The Commissioner visited the Street Dog Sterilization Surgery Center and reviewed its operations.He then visited the Observation Centre for stray dogs and inspected its activities.
He directed the officials to identify aggressive stray dogs within the city limits, bring them to the ABC (Animal Birth Control) center, administer appropriate treatment,and implement preventive measures to ensure that the dogs do not pose a nuisance to the public.
Following this, the Commissioner visited the Medi Agrahara Electric Crematorium under the city corporation limits along with the Executive Engineer of the Electricity Division.
He conducted an inspection and advised the staff present at the crematorium to interact courteously with the public and ensure smooth functioning without any inconvenience.
Officials and staff from the Animal Husbandry Department were also present during the visit.
