A woman police Sub-inspector was held by the Karnataka Lokayukta police for accepting bribery to close a case in Bengaluru,officials said on Monday.
The arrested suspect is Savithri Bai,Woman Police Sub-Inspector (WPSI),of Govindapura police station, Bangalore city.
According to the Lokayukta police,the WPSI had sought a bribe of Rs.1.25 lakh to file a closure report in a case where the complainant,Mohammed Younus,was accused of assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent of outraging her modesty.
Lokayukta police set a trap and caught Savithri Bai red-handed as she accepted the bribe.
She has been booked under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.Further probe is underway.
