“No respect for those who speak against corruption in Congress”.
Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has said that the people of the state are keenly waiting to see how Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will respond to the letter written by Law Minister H.K.Patil,who has expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s action regarding illegal mining cases.
Speaking to the media after inaugurating the HSL Tile and Granite Showroom in Gadag city on Sunday,he said that Patil has raised a very important issue stating that about 90 per cent of the registered cases in mining have not yet been resolved.“The current government is his own party’s government. He is a member of the same cabinet. Now, how will the Chief Minister respond to a case raised by one of his own ministers is the question of the people”.
The former CM said Patil has demanded the setting up of a special court and a high-level investigation.Already, several cases have been registered,SITs have been formed, and CBI investigations are underway.
Many allegations have been raised against SIT officials. The law minister is referring to cases from before 2017–18.
During Siddaramaiah’s previous tenure as CM, the central government passed a law requiring all mines in the country to be auctioned.
Just before this central law was enforced, the Karnataka government renewed many mining leases in favor of select individuals. Will Patil agree to investigate those renewals as well?.
Asked about the statement made by Aland Congress MLA B.R.Patil regarding corruption in the allotment of government houses,Bommai said B.R.Patil raises many issues, but no one in the Congress party gives importance to his words.
It is very clear that there is no respect in the Congress party for those who speak out against corruption.
